Color authority Pantone, has proclaimed that the color of 2012 is …Tangerine Tango Orange. Often, colors that show up on fashion designers runways today, will be seen in homes tomorrow. Many fashion designers including Adrienne Vittadini, Tommy Hilfiger, and Eli Tahari to name a few, are incorporating a lot of this shade of orange into their spring 2012 collections. Many cultures see color differently. While for many years in the U.S. has associated the color orange per se, with an inexpensive look. In Europe, orange conveys high-end…it’s considered a design-forward color.

While we interior designers have been using hues of terra cotta for quite some time, it now appears that hues and tints of orange, such as coral, tangerine and bittersweet will be showing up everywhere – particularly in accessories like pillows, artwork and bedding, adding a pop of color to spice up an otherwise neutral room. If you don’t find hues of orange to be pleasing, there are so many more colors to choose from. What’s in vogue today doesn’t mean it delights everyone. Know yourself and then choose colors that nurture and feed your spirit and delight the eye!
